Accomplishments

As of the mid-point, the pre-production phase is complete. The research and the concept art has been complete and we as a group has finalized on the setting, characters and genres. I have successfully imported all of the assets required to create the game. Since the scaling was incorrect, I had to re-scale them to an appropriate size.

Issues Encountered & Problem Solving

The problems I encountered during my work in Blender and Unreal Engine were difficult but I was able to solve them. In Blender, while I was creating the building, creating the physical building was fine. However creating and assigning the nodes were challenging and I didn't have much time. Instead of scrapping the building totally, I have decided to keep what I have made and only show the front of the building. Another problem I encountered is importing the nature assets to the map with the foliage. All of the models were out of scale and the pivot wasn't centred properly. To fix the scaling, I went into edit mode on the asset and scaled the assets down. Then I went into modelling mode and manually fixed the pivot of the model, so the foliage is accurate.

Revised Plan & Scoping

To ensure a timely submission, me and my group has decided to cut some of our original ideas from the game. Instead of creating our own animations, we could download animations from Mixamo to save time. Our original Idea was to create an animated introduction to the story, but that would be too time consuming. I have also decided that creating a mob PvE system would take to long so I wasn't able to add the mob and boss to the game.

Next Steps

As of now, my plan is to complete the foliage of the map. Complete importing and scripting the animations into the main character. Finish creating the main menu. Then to finish the website and final evaluation.
