At the start of the project, me and my team discussed and spoke about the project brief, we decided on three potential concepts that we were presented with before one was chosen as our main idea for the project. The three ideas that we have come up with are 1. 3D open world fantasy RPG, in which crystals were once whole and have been broken into pieces and the player needs to gather the crystal shards while fighting corrupted enemies within a fantasy world. 2. 2D side scrolling adventure game in which a sprite type character must save his friend from a boss within a fantasy overgrown city. 3. the player is placed within a post-human environment where they are tasked with locating a friend within a city overgrown by nature by navigating through it and fighting robots to locate and beat a boss.
I have also completed the project analysis this week; in this I figured what software we will be using to create the game, what each team members roles within the game design and the expected outcome of the project as a whole. I have also written the main proposal document including a target audience, executive summary, USP and role descriptions.
Reflecting I do think I was too quick when coming up with the idea for the game, it was made in one meeting of our group and all three ideas that were discussed were not truly discussed with enough detail and against one another before we decided on one. The three ideas were not considered in depth and measured against one another regarding features such as feasibility, skill level involved with the concept and project risks before a concept was chosen. This was clear at the stage of the documentation proposal stage when I only had one idea and not a variety to choose from; I would be inclined to discuss the three ideas more closely in a future meeting and they should be treated equally by each of the group members considering what features could be implemented, skill involved, and project risks.
